I am burning on the inside with desire for this book.

The release of City of Heavenly Fire is just a month away. On May 27th, The Mortal Instruments series will be completed. I have been with this series since the release of City of Bones in 2008. The series has taken countless turns, with the addition of two spin-off series, (The Infernal Devices trilogy, and the to-be-released The Dark Artifices), an e-book series (The Bane Chronicles) and a controversial movie.

For those unfortunate souls who have not read The Mortal Instruments series, the premise is simple-- demons are real and so are the people who have to kill them. They are called Shadowhunters, and this is where the plot gets complicated. They are a secret organization that base their beliefs off of three objects, the mortal instruments. When one suddenly goes missing, the Shadowhunters need the help of a human to find it.

Really, a blurb cannot do it justice. The plot is so intricate that the only way to understand it is to read it, and watching the movie does not count. There is plenty of romance, magic, and adventure to entertain anyone.

As everyone who's read any of my reviews on this here blog might know, I am a big fan of the Max Ride books-at least, the first few.
I adore all of the characters, all of the action in the first few books make me extremely happy, and the humor of these books is just wonderful.
But I suppose all good things must come to an end, sadly, and this book (in my opinion) is where the greatness of the Max Ride series ends.

       Usually I love anything that has to do with Greek culture; their architecture, myths of curses and heroes, and gyros, but The Goddess test was more chick lit than the myths I know and love.
All you have to know is that it is a bad mix of Percy Jackson and Abandon by Meg Cabot. Separately, they were both amazing, but if you combine them the gods will curse you.
       The plot is a continuation of the myth of Persephone. Hades needs to find a new wife after Persephone left him. Obviously, only the worthy could marry Hades and become the goddess of death, so they hold a contest that is like The Princess and the Pea.
       Kate is chosen to be the next tested, but she does not know it. She only agrees to it for the sake of her mother who is dying of cancer. She has to go through a series if tests to determine if her character is strong enough to survive in the harsh landscape of the Underworld. But there is another problem for Kate to deal with-- all the other girls who have taken the test were murdered.

Hey hey everybody happy New Year! Cassia here! I finally have another review for you all, and one of my--well, my only--New Year's resolutions is to re-read the books I picked to review (all of which I haven't read in a while). So, here you go!

Here, There Be Dragons by James A. Owen

John, Charles, and Jack never knew another world existed besides their own, England during World War I. They find out that there is, and that they have to keep the atlas to it safe pretty quick when they find themselves being chased by a pack of Wendigo. And they don’t even know what Wendigo are, just that they better follow a peculiar man named Bert to safety to avoid being killed by them. They soon find themselves in the Archipelago of Dreams, where every tale they’ve ever been told is real, and they’re caught in the middle of a dark battle for control over the Archipelago.

The first thing that hooked me with this book was the title: Here, There Be Dragons. I’ll admit that I don’t know much about maps and sailing, but I do know that the phrase “Here, there be dragons” is a phrase used by early mapmakers to indicate that they have no idea what’s beyond the edge of their map, as it’s uncharted territory.
