City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

I am burning on the inside with desire for this book.

The release of City of Heavenly Fire is just a month away. On May 27th, The Mortal Instruments series will be completed. I have been with this series since the release of City of Bones in 2008. The series has taken countless turns, with the addition of two spin-off series, (The Infernal Devices trilogy, and the to-be-released The Dark Artifices), an e-book series (The Bane Chronicles) and a controversial movie.

For those unfortunate souls who have not read The Mortal Instruments series, the premise is simple-- demons are real and so are the people who have to kill them. They are called Shadowhunters, and this is where the plot gets complicated. They are a secret organization that base their beliefs off of three objects, the mortal instruments. When one suddenly goes missing, the Shadowhunters need the help of a human to find it.

Really, a blurb cannot do it justice. The plot is so intricate that the only way to understand it is to read it, and watching the movie does not count. There is plenty of romance, magic, and adventure to entertain anyone.

If you have not read the books, I suggest you stop reading because there are spoilers.

Every TMI fan is scouring the Internet in the hopes of stumbling upon the holy grail-- teasers. I am not usually a fan of teasers, but once I read one, I have to read them all. It is a horrible addiction, considering most of them are out of context and make me panic. There is a rumor circulating that a main character is fated to die, one of a pair. So, with that rant out of the way, here you can see all of the intoxicating teasers here.

The blurb from Cassandra Clare is tantalizingly short.

"Erchomai, Sebastian had said. I am coming.

Darkness returns to the Shadowhunter world. As their society falls apart around them, Clary, Jace, Simon and their friends must band together to fight the greatest evil the Nephilim have ever faced: Clary’s own brother. Nothing in the world can defeat him — must they journey to another world to find the chance? Lives will be lost, love sacrificed, and the whole world changed in the sixth and last installment of the Mortal Instruments series!"

If you need something to do with your life before the release, here is Clare's blog and Twitter. Clare has also start TMITuesdays (which means The Mortal Instruments, not too much information for those who are acronym challenged) where she shares exclusive content about COHF.

For me, the final book is a huge mystery. In City of Lost Souls, it was hinted at that the worlds of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices will converge. I am not sure how I feel about this yet. I just know that things are about to get complicated. On the other hand, the situation with Clary and Jace is somewhat predictable. Clary will go on some brave, but stupid mission to discover how to cure Jace and, despite the numerous obstacles, Clary will prevail.

The most interesting part is Sebastian. Even though he is a demon, I still like him as a character. His survival is amazing considering the amount of crap life threw at him. It is not his fault he was born an insane, gullible, half demon. I hope that he does not die, but somehow is cured of this disease, like Jace.

Overall, I am not-so-patiently awaiting the release. Let's hope I do not explode with excitement before Jace does.
