Upcoming Releases | Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan

Well guys, the end is finally coming. The Percy Jackson series one of few series that I have been religiously following since the beginning (the other ones being the Harry Potter series, the Divergent trilogy, and The Mortal Instruments series).

We have been through a lot together; an amazing five series starter, a spin-off with Egyptian mythology, and two terrible movies. We have been left with some pretty awful cliffhangers (no pun intended).

The Blood of Olympus, the last book in the Percy Jackson series, is going to be released in two days, on October 7th, 2014.

The Blood of Olympus (The Heroes of Olympus, #5)

*IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE REST OF THE SERIES, STOP HERE BECAUSE THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!*

The summary from Goodreads:

"Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen—all of them—and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood—the blood of Olympus—in order to wake.

The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it "might" be able to stop a war between the two camps.

The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over."

I have a few crackpot theories about what is going to happen:

1. This one may be more of a wish then a theory, but I think that something bad is going to happen to either Jason or Piper. Honestly, I never really liked either of them. Jason is so detached from everything, and he is like the opposite of the Percy Jackson we have all come to know and love. Sorry Jasper fans.
2. Leo is definitely going to go back for Calypso, but I do not know how. IT JUST HAS TO HAPPEN!
3. Nico is going to have to face Percy and say how he really feels. I still am not entirely on board with this whole turn of events, but I feel bad for Nico. We all know that someone is going to die, and I can honestly see Nico as that person, like he is about to confess to Percy, then, BAM! dead.
4. Octavian is going to try to destroy Camp Half-Blood, but he is going to end up dying. No question.
5. There is going to be a fight between the Seven to see which of them is going to sacrifice themselves as the two demigods that Gaea wants to kill. And of course, Percy and Annabeth are going to be the first ones to volunteer. Jason is going to want to be the mighty hero who sacrifices himself, so I predict a huge fight among the Seven is going to happen.

Other than that, I cannot imagine what else is going to happen. Riordan's books are always so unpredictable, but I have faith in him. But, if anything happens to either Percy or Annabeth, the only blood that will be spilled in Riordan's. (Not really, but come on, haven't they been through enough?)

What are your theories? Who do you think is going to die? Do you agree with my ideas, or do you think I am completely wrong? I would love to read anything you have to say!

  1. I still haven't read House of Hades! (Stupid school and work!) But I really can't wait to read the conclusion. I plan for a "double feature," where I read them back to back. :)
