Snark and Stage Fright
by Stephanie Wardrop
Release Date: 03/10/15
Swoon Romance
Summary from Goodreads:
Happily-ever-after isn’t as happy or forever as Jane Austen makes it look. Just something Georgia Barrett learns when her sharp tongue costs her the only guy she’s ever really cared about: Michael Endicott.
Determined to move on, Georgia lands the lead role in the school’s fall musical. But to survive on stage, she’ll need to learn to express herself without her protective shield of snark. She soon discovers being honest with others means being honest with herself, and the truth is she’s still in love with Michael.
But from the looks of Michael’s new girlfriend, Georgia isn’t the only one who tried to move on. Apparently, some people are just better at it than others. And when Michael and his girlfriend join the cast of the fall musical, Georgia finds out that snark and stage fright are the least of her worries...

Review
*Disclaimer*
I received this book from YA Bound Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my rating of the book.
Georgia is this snarky, free-thinking teenager who is looking forward to (and dreading) spending the weekend with her boyfriend Michael at the beach with his (extremely) wealthy family and friends.
Georgia is pretty much the opposite of Michael, she is laid-back and relaxed and he is serious and kind of uptight.
When at the beach, she feels like Cinderella, except she does not have a stunning gown, talking animals, or even the smallest amount of grace.
Nothing goes right, and Cinderella ends up losing her prince.
Trying to cope with her now ordinary life, Georgia signs up to help with the musical at her school, but she ends up getting more than she bargains for, especially when Michael and his new girlfriend join the cast.
Snark and Stage Fright was a cute, fluffy book that made me laugh and smile. This is the perfect pick me up after you read something heavy and sad. There is nothing funnier than a snarky teenager who has a vendetta against the world.
I could really connect with Georgia and her problems. She was totally realistic and yet unique. One of the hardest parts to get right in romances is the characters, but Waldrop did a spectacular job with all of them. I loved Georgia and her impulsive snarky attitude (it is not in the title for nothing). She was definitely a multi-faceted and complex character too. She loved art, writing, and trying new things.
On the other hand, she was not perfect, which is extremely difficult to find in contemporaries these days. It seems like every female main character has to be good at everything to be likable, but Georgia was lovable despite (or because of) her flaws.
Michael was also a character. He was a realistic boy, unlike the multitude of "bad boys" and "preppies" out there in the world of YA. He had his own flaws, like Georgia.
The up and downs of the romance was the star of the book. I love how it portrayed the uncertainty of relationships and the hope for second chances (which is all I am going to give away).
The one thing that I wished was different was the blurb and the pacing. The musical does not really become a huge part of the book until the second half. I was alright with that, but the blurb suggests that the production was the spotlight of the book.
Overall, I really liked this book as a fluffy, heart-warming book that increased my faith in love and friendship.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants a cute, fluffy read or likes to have strong and sassy female leads in their books. Any secret (or not so secret) thespians will love this book.
Also, anyone who enjoys a good romance or contemporary will love Snark and Stage Fright.
I give Snark and Stage Fright by Stephanie Waldrop four stars.
