This is a weekly list meme hosted by the wonderful bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish.
I am cheating a little bit with this week's topic. I am supposed to be talking about the authors that whenever they publish a book you run out to the bookstore to buy it (or even do something crazy like pre-order it). But honestly, I do not buy that many books. And if I do, they are on sale. Unfortunately, not all of the books that I want to read from my favorite authors are always on sale. So, I am not able to buy them on my (very) limited budget.
On the other hand, there are some authors that write books and I will read ALL OF THEM (or at least try my very best to). I am talking about wrestling in the library for the last available copy, or something even crazier like placing a hold on the book months before it is released just so that I can be the first one to read it.
Without further rambling, here in my prestigious list of auto-read authors.
John Green
I still maintain the belief that John Green is a genius. Many would disagree with me, but I will consume any media that Green puts out. I have watched countless Vlogbrother videos, watched him play Grand Theft Auto on his gaming channel, and learned all about history with him on his Crash Course channel. I have also read almost all of his books (still working on finishing Paper Towns) and I am planning on watching any movie adaptations. He is a genius, and I like things produced by people as creative, intelligent, and ambitious as John Green.
Maggie Stiefvater
What can I say about Stiefvater that is not already obvious? Her books all have an unique, creepy but irresistibly enticing style that keeps drawing me in. I even liked her enough to give her werewolf books a shot (before the Shiver series, I had a couple of scarring encounters with some terrible werewolf books that almost put me off from the topic forever). She took a completely cliche and overdone topic and made it refreshed, interesting, and addicting. So obviously, I am going to read anything else she writes.
Victoria Schwab
(also known as V.E. Schwab)
Schwab is one of the most inventive and relatable authors I have had the pleasure of reading. I loved her YA series, The Archived and I ADORED A Darker Shade of Magic. That book was one of my first forays into the intimidating world of adult fantasy. And Schwab has convinced me to delve into that world and into any other books that she blesses the world with.
J.K. Rowling
(also known as Robert Galbriath)
Believe it or not, Rowling has a lot more up her sleeve than Harry Potter. She is anything but a one-hit wonder. I am currently working on her mystery series, starting with The Cuckoo's Calling. Even though it does not have Harry, Hogwarts, or magic, I already know it is going to be just as amazing.
Sarah J. Maas
Maas is a recent addition to this list. I have read half of the Throne of Glass series (and I am planning on reading the rest of them regardless of any spoilers some inconsiderate people might leak). I also recently finished reading A Court of Thorns and Roses. It was amazing, just like the Throne of Glass series. They are so amazing that I am assuming that everything she writes, from YA and adult books to grocery lists, is going to be perfection.
Pseudonymous Bosch
If Bosch wrote a textbook about astrophysics and entropy, I would still read it. He always manages to bring humor, mystery, and magic into everything he writes. I have raved and book-pushed all of his middle grade books before, and I would not hesitate to read anything else he writes. I just need him to venture into YA and my life will be complete.
Holly Black
Black equally fascinates and terrifies me. Her version of faeries are completely feral, but still maintain an aura of innocence and playfulness. She has tried her hand with writing pretty much everything in the fantasy realm, including vampires, faeries, supernatural mafias, monsters, and anything else that you find in your nightmares, and she has succeed with all of them. I cannot wait to see what else she has in store.
Laini Taylor
I have waited a long time for Taylor to write another book, and the details about her Muse series this year made me leap with joy! I adored the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series so much that I will be willing to read anything else that her hand writes. Her writing is just so consistently amazing that I know any other book she publishes will be an instant hit.
Marissa Meyers
Meyers and her cast of futuristic outcasts turned heroes have captured my hearts. Her complicated plots, interwoven backstories, complex characters, and refreshing world have convinced me that she can write no wrong.
Rick Riordan
As long as Riordan keeps writing, I will keep reading. His books have occupied months of my life, and I am not even going to complain because those are some of the best months of my life. I lived in his books with the Greek heros and demigods. I have saved the world with them countless times. And I would be more than willing to give it another go with another cast of new characters in a new world.
I guess that I lied, the rambling never really stopped. But, now you know the justification behind the authors that I automatically read all of their books.
