Valentine's Day Reads

I am painfully aware of the upcoming holiday. The one where half of the population spends the day with the loves of their lives, and the other half is left to wallow in self-pity with only a carton of ice cream for comfort.

Well, this year is going to be different. If I cannot have a boyfriend, then I am at least going to treat myself with a good book. So, here are my recommendations of books to read on Valentine's Day, whether you are excited for a romantic evening or anticipating a night alone. You will find everything you need here.

For those Hopeless Romantics

If you are dreaming of a candlelit dinner at the Eiffel Tower, this might be the closest you can get. The romance will have you swooning, not to mention the charming accents.

  1. I really need to pick up Jellicoe Road, and Splintered, I've heard such amazing things about both of them. I totally agree with Anna, My Life Next Door, and The Fault in Our Stars for Valentine's :)

    1. I just finished reading Splintered this week, and it was amazing. Considering that i have pretty high standards for retellings, I was pleasantly surprised. A review will be up soon!
Nothing is better for Valentine's Day than a book set in France.
      Happy Valentine's Day!

  2. I actually love a good, funny chicklit for days like these, where I feel like I need to swoon. Although Stephanie Perkins or Sarah Dessen are great for those occasions as well. And I'm currently reading My Life Next Door!

    1. I agree that light, fluffy books are good for Valentine's Day. It is supposed to be a happy holiday, so the books should be happy too.
      Happy Valentine's Day!

  3. Haha, I usually curl up with a book after babysitting (because their parents went out for a sweet valentine dinner) and dry my lovelorn tears on bookmarks haha! All of these books are so amazing! Add Amy and Roger's Epic Detour and your set.

    1. I haven't read Amy and Roger's Epic Detour yet, but it is high up on my TBR list. I hope your Valentine's Day this year is better and full of great books!

  4. Wow *claps* the amount of work I bet it took to create this.

I recently just read Cruel Beauty and IGNIFEX OH MY GOD. It was beautiful.

I haven't read Daughtter of Smoke and Bone or anything by Stephanie Perkins but those are DEFINITELY on my list. I've heard so much hype but somehow, it isn't making me shy away.

    Awesome list!

    1. Thanks!
You should definitely not be afraid to read Daughter of Smoke and Bones. It is unlike anything I have ever read, so the hype is really worth it.

  5. Awesome picks, hun! I feel like Anna is the ultimate Valentine's Day book. EVERYONE swoons over that book. I should read it soon...

Cinder has a really cute and sincere romance. Nice choices! You can never go wrong with Dessen. :)

    1. Nothing says Valentine's Day to me more than a book set in France or something by Sarah Dessen. She really has something for everyone. I really need to finish the rest of her books. I still have a few to go, and I am excited about her newest one coming out this summer!

  6. Nice recommendations! To be honest I didn't like Anna that much (it felt somewhat cliche to me, and Anna annoyed me a little :/) but it definitely had its cute moments, which is basically the definition of Valentine's Day xD

As for me, I'm doing the #FantasyFebruary challenge this month, so I'll be binge-reading the Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy over this weekend, haha. Happy Valentine's :)

    1. I will agree that Anna and the French Kiss was extremely sappy and somewhat cliche, but it is the perfect Valentine's Day read.
Good luck with your challenge! I still have to read the Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy, but I have heard good things about it.
