I am so excited to discuss more music with you guys since the last TTT I did with discussing the songs that have been stuck in my head lately.
Today, we are discussing songs that I wish would be make into books. Some of these picks are because the songs are so lyrical and beautiful that I would love to see more of the writing in novel-form, and others are due to the unique premise or story already shown in the songs.
Love Story by Taylor Swift
This is now a classic to me. I personally loved Taylor Swift's older music better, since they seemed to tell more elaborate and meaningful stories. Love Story is exactly what the title is, the journey of a couple, a little bit like Romeo and Juliet, who are trying to be together but their families are keeping them apart. There is such a sweet ending that completes the whole song and its story really well.
Arcadia by Mariana's Trench, (or any of their other songs)
Mariana's Trench does everything right, and that certainly includes their lyrics. All of their songs are impossibly catchy, beautiful, and lyrical. Most of them, especially the beginning and closing songs to their albums, tell heart-breaking stories that I would love to read more about in print.
E.T. by Katy Perry
I chose this one just because it would make one interesting and bizarre book. I love alien/romance books, and I think E.T. would make a brilliant rendition of an extraterrestrial love story.
Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood's tirade about her cheating lover would make the perfect revenge book, right?
Luck by American Authors
Just like Mariana's Trench, I am convinced that American Authors can do no wrong. Luck tells the story of a boy who left his home to hopefully make something of his life, yet he still has regrets about abandoning his home. The emotions in the song are powerful and impressively sincere. It would make a perfect coming-of-age story in print.
Safety Pin by 5 Seconds of Summer
I am not the biggest fan of 5 Seconds of Summer, but I have to say that they outdid themselves with Safety Pin. This song tells the story of a broken girl and a broken boy who just want to be happy together. Even though it may seem a little bit sappy, I would love to read this song as a YA contemporary.
Rockstar by A Great Big World
A Great Big World is so underrated for being such an amazing band. Their songs are soft, but have incredible instrumentals and vocals, as well as lyrics. This song shows the struggle of a girl and a boy who both want to be rockstars, but the world keeps getting in their way. I could totally see this song as a bestselling YA novel.
Warriors by Imagine Dragons
Warriors is one of Imagine Dragons's darker songs, and actually one of my favorites by them. I love the thunder, rumble, and power in the song and its lyrics. This could easily be translated into a YA dystopian or even an epic fantasy with a focus on military.
How Far We've Come by Matchbox Twenty
This is the soundtrack to the end of the world, and it would make a great apocalyptic novel. The song realistically portrays the end of the world for the common person, which would be an interesting perspective for a novel, especially focusing on the past and what is left of the future.
