Monthly Wrap-Up | January 2015

My Life
January was a stressful month. Work piled up and I was struggling underneath the brunt of it. By some miracle, I found some time to blog, but not as much as I wanted to.
Cassia has taken an unannounced blogging hiatus, and it is to be determined whether she is going to return.
Max has been even busier than I have (which I did not think was possible) so her posts were also limited.
We are doing our best to keep posting new content, be active on social media, and visit/comment on all of your lovely blogs. I hope February is a better month.

Books I Read
I only read a total of 6 books this month (and one was a DNF, but I am still counting it).

Just Pru by Anne Pfeffer
(expect a review this month!)

Just Pru

Love and Other Foreign Words by Erin McCahan
(DNF)

Love and Other Foreign Words

No Place Like Oz by Danielle Paige

No Place Like Oz (Dorothy Must Die #0.1)

Kill Me Softly by Sarah Cross

Kill Me Softly (Beau Rivage, #1)

Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles, #1)

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

Dorothy Must Die (Dorothy Must Die, #1)

Challenge Updates
I have decided to torture myself this year, so I made my Goodreads reading goal 100 books. So far, I have only read 6 books. I am already at least 2 books between schedule, which Goodreads has not forgotten to remind me EVERY TIME I log in.

On a happier note, I am succeeding with the 2015 Discussion Post Challenge. My goal is to be a Creative Conversationalist with 13-24 discussion posts this year. I knocked two of them out this month and there are more to come soon!

I cannot wait to continue the wonderful conversations that they posts have started!

  1. January was so stressful for me too because of midterms but we made it through, we made it through *pats self on the back* And you seemed to have accomplished so much even though you were busy! OMG The Kiss of Deception, I just ordered that book, and I am more than excited to read it because of all the buzz about it! I'm not in any reading challenges yeah but I will be marathoning the Harry Potter series later in this new month and into March! I'm so excited because this is going to be m first time read the series. Awesome post Tessa <3

    1. Thanks! Good job on midterms. I know from experience that sometimes it takes all that you have to just survive the testing. I think you will really like Kiss of Deception. I loved it! Have a happy February!

  2. It's so hard to keep posting content, be active on social media, reply to comments, visit blogs, AND still be up to date on your own LIFE and WORK! I hope you'll find a nice balance for yourself in February :).

Hey, six books in a month is still nice. That's close to Stephen King's "read 75 books in a year" recommendation.

No Place Like Oz by Danielle Paige - How was it??? Got to admit I'm really curious about this series since DMD seems to get a lot of good pub vibe.

Kill Me Softly by Sarah Cross -- Also really curious about this after I heard that it focused on fairy tales!

It'd be nice to turn off those GR reminders about the challenge goals :/. I try not to participate in challenges for that reason. I'd feel worse being reminded so often... The discussion post challenge sounds awesome! If there's one thing I miss having on my blog, it's my old enthusiasm for discussion posts. I hope you can keep up with your goals there :).

    1. Thanks! I would definitely recommend Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige. It is an interesting twist on the classic characters. The novellas, like No Place Like Oz are AWESOME! They focus on different parts of the story, so you get to personally know every character, even evil Dorothy.

I would recommend Kill Me Softly too, especially if you like fairytales.

I am really enjoying the discussion post challenge too! It is not too late to join if you want.

I hope you have a good February!

  3. Don't worry! I only read 5 books in January, which is good considering the work I had to do for school, but I really wanted to read more. Darn those midterm exams!

    1. With how busy I am now, I am happy I got to read at least seven books. Five books is not too shabby either!
      Good luck in February!

  4. I really want to read Kiss of Deception and Dorothy Must Die. I laughed out loud at what you said about Goodreads reminding you that you are behind with your challenge everytime you log in. I feel your pain!! haha

  5. I would recommend both Kiss of Deception and Dorothy Must Die. I am still trying (and failing) to keep up with this Goodreads challenge...
